If you're going to stay a while, I'm told you can buy a pass for $20 from the NF District Office in Bristol. This gives you free camping at Hickory Landing which is actually a well developed hunt camp and access to everything at Wright Lake & Camel Pond except camping. It does include showers and you can stay as long as you want. more info.

Apalachicola River:

  Bloody Bluff Road, From its junction with CR 379 in Sumatra take SR 65 south 10.3 miles and turn right at the sign onto Bloody Bluff Road.  Follow it 2.2 miles to the end and the boat ramp.  A couple of camp sites.  Free, trash bins.


Aucilla River:

Lots of street (truck) noise all night because the park's right of off US 10 & US 19.  Minor train noise.  Gives good access to the Aucilla and Wacissa Rivers and so so access to Econfina River.  Cold showers.

      Aucilla River, From US 27 junction take SR 257A 4.1 miles south.  Turn left at the Middle Aucilla sign onto Lanier Road and follow dirt road .9 miles.  Turn left at kiosk and then make first right.

      Aucilla River, From US 27 junction take SR 257A 7.7 miles south to bridge over the Aucilla River - pretty rocky put in

      Aucilla River, From US 27 junction take SR 257A 11.7 miles south to where it turns into CR 14 (dirt road).  Bear right after .6 miles.  Follow this dirt road .75 miles to first bend to left and turn right onto logging road after .2 miles.  Follow this road (and Public River Access signs) 2.5 miles to end (no turns).  Turn right for .2 miles to launch.

      Wacissa River, From US 27 junction take SR 59 south through town of Wacissa.  Continue south.  When SR 59 turns west (right) continue straight for another half mile to boat ramp.

Boat Launches:

Holt, Blackwater River, Bryant Bridge.  From Blackwater State Park exit turn left and driver 3.9 miles to US 90.  Turn left on US 90 and continue 12 miles to Cooper Lane, just inside the Holt city limits.  Turn left and proceed .1 mile to John Road.  Turn left and continue 2.5 miles to the put in on the right, just before Bryant Bridge over the Blackwater River.

      Holmes Creek, Take SR 79 south from Vernon 4 miles to Hightower Springs Road.  Go north .5 miles to Hightower Springs Landing.

      Holmes Creek, From New Hope, take CR 284 west 1.5 miles to second dirt road.  Take dirt road north about 1 mile to Live Oak Landing.

      Ecofina Creek, From US 231 4 miles north of Fountain, take Scott's Road 4 miles west to Scott's Bridge.

      Ecofina Creek, From SR 20 turn north on Strickland Road which becomes Porter Pond Road.  There is a fence line on the right side of the road.  Follow the fence line and make 2 right turns where the fence turns.  Take Walsingham Bridge Road to the Walsingham Bridge.

      Ecofina Creek, One mile north of SR 20 on Strickland Road to Ecofina Canoe Livery.

      Choctawhatchee River, Take 79 north out of Vernon.  On the other side of the Holmes Creek bridge turn left on CR 279 (not CR 278).  Turn left on CR 170 in about 1.5 miles and follow it 12.1 miles to the end.  Turn left on CR 280 and follow it .6 miles to CR 284.  Cross CR 284 and follow dirt road 1.8 miles to Hinson Crossroads boat ramp.


Florida River:

  Also see Apalachicola National Forest, Camel Pond NF Campground. 

  Florida River Recreation Area, from its junction with SR 20 in Bristol follow SR 12 south 13.4 miles.  Continue straight on CR 379 5.9 miles and turn right at the boat ramp sign onto FR 188.  Go .5 miles to the end of this dirt road and the boat ramp.  Campground to the right behind toilet & picnic area.  Free, no water, pit toilet, dumpster.

  Big Gully Creek, from its junction with SR 20 in Bristol follow SR 12 south 13.4 miles.  Continue straight on CR 379 .4 miles and turn right at the Big Gully Landing sign onto FR 133.  Go .8 miles to the end of this dirt road and the landing.  GPS may be needed to find your way back.  Couple of camping spots at the put in.

  Cotton Landing, Kennedy Creek, from its junction with SR 20 in Bristol follow SR 12 south 13.4 miles.  Continue straight on CR 379 13.0 miles and turn right at the Cotton Landing sign onto FR 123.  Go 3.5 miles to the fork and bear right.  Continue .5 miles and the boat ramp.  Several camp sites.  Free, no facilities.

Take a left on highway 90 to Bolivar Street (First red light). Turn right, go 1 mile and turn left at East Bank Road. From Pensacola: Take Exit 158 on Interstate 10. Turn left. Drive 6 miles to Highway 90 and turn right. Cross over Victory Bridge, turn LEFT at 1st red light. Boat Launches:

  Ochlockonee River, from its junction with SR 375 (west end of Lake Talquin 20 miles west of Tallahassee) continue west on SR 20 1.2 miles to northwest side of bridge over Ochlockonee River.  Short carry.

  Ochlockonee River, from its junction with SR 20 (west end of Lake Talquin 20 miles west of Tallahassee) turn south on CR 375 and go 11.2 miles (22 miles from Sochoppy)  and turn right on Pine Creek Road (FR 335).  Continue 1.2 miles on dirt road to boat ramp.  No camping during hunting season.  Dumpster, trash can.

  Ochlockonee River, from its junction with SR 20 (west end of Lake Talquin 20 miles west of Tallahassee) turn south on CR 375 and go 22.6 miles (11 miles from Sochoppy)  and turn right on Mack Lake Road (FR 336).  Continue 1.0 miles on dirt road to camping area & boat ramp.  Chemical toilets, dumpster.  $3/night.

  River Styx, from its junction with SR 20 in Bristol follow SR 12 south 13.4 miles.  Continue straight on CR 379 10.8 miles and turn right at the boat ramp sign onto FR 115 at Larkin's Campsites.  Go 3.3 miles, past summer/weekend  trailers, etc.  to the end of the (main) dirt road and the boat ramp.  Several camp sites to the left of the ramp.  Free, no water, Porti-Potti, dumpster.

  Sumatra, Doyle Creek, from its junction with CR 379 in Sumatra take SR 65 south 16.8 miles and turn left at the Deep Creek sign across from the ranger station.  Follow this road 1.0 miles and bear left onto Doyle Creek Road.  Continue .7 miles to campsite & put in.  S5 overnight camping permit required.

  Sumatra, Deep Creek, from its junction with CR 379 in Sumatra take SR 65 south 16.8 miles and turn left at the Deep Creek sign across from the ranger station.  Follow this road 1.0 miles and bear right and continue another 1.1 miles.  Turn left onto Deep Creek Road and follow it 3.5 miles to the end and the camp & put in.  Might have to walk in the last 100 yards except maybe in very dry weather.  Short but pretty deep ruts to be navigated.  S5 overnight camping permit required.

 Sumatra, Whiskey George Creek, from its junction with CR 379 in Sumatra take SR 65 south 17.1 miles (.3 miles past the ranger station).  Small dirt boat ramp on the east side SR 65.

  Carrabelle, Peabody Creek, from the center of Carrabelle take SR 67 north 5.8 miles.  Put in at far side of bridge on left.

  Carrabelle, Womack Creek Recreation Area, from the center of Carrabelle take SR 67 north 6.1 miles and turn right onto Jeff Sanders Road.  Follow this dirt road 7.3 miles to campground and boat ramp at the end.  $5/night tents only.  Flush toilets, hot showers, water(?), trash bin.  Put in is on Ochlockonee River to Womack Creek.

  Carrabelle, Crooked River, from the center of Carrabelle take SR 67 north 6.4 miles and turn left onto Gully Branch Road.  Go 1.0 miles and turn left on Warren Bluff Road.  Follow this road 2.4 miles and turn left at the Sunday Rollaway Campsite sign.  Go .6 miles to the put in at the end.  1 campsite, no facilities.  $5 overnight camping permit required.  Toilet on Gully Branch Road .5 miles from SR 67.

  Carrabelle, Crooked River, continue past Sunday Rollaway Campsite (above) another 3.0 miles and turn left at the Warren Bluff Campsite sign.  Go .3 miles to the put in at the end.  1 campsite, no facilities.  S5 overnight camping permit required.

  Wakulla, Wakulla River, from its junction with CR 267 go west on CR 365 2.1 miles to Wakulla River bridge.  No Trespassing sign on upriver side.  No boat access from the springs either... tours & glass bottom boats only.
