Take exit 509 from I90 just south of Hardin, MT. and follow Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area signs. You'll go 10 miles to a "T" in the road. Turn left and go 13 miles and turn left again at the crossroads and Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area sign. Follow this road 17 miles to Fort Smith and then Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area entrance.

Travel about 5 miles until the pavement ends and continue on Trout Creek Road #250 which is improved gravel for 2 miles.
