Androscoggin River:

Milan, from its junction with NH110A follow US16 1.5 miles north. Nice marshy lakelike area of Androscoggin River.

Connecticut Lakes:

Lake Francis 1.1 miles north from the junction of NH145 & US3 in Pittsburg. Boat ramp & picnic area. Toilet.

Lake Francis State Park: 4.8 miles north of Lake Francis on US3. Camping, boat ramp & picnic area. Still open 9/24/9.

First Connecticut Lake: .2 miles north of Lake Francis State Park on US3. Boat ramp & picnic area. Toilet.

Second Connectcut Lake: 6.9 miles north of First Connecticut on US3. Boat ramp & picnic area. Toilet.

Lake Umbagog:

Camping Areas:

Umbagog Lake State Campground, about 6 miles east of Errol on US16 and 1 mile from Maine state line.

Boat Launches:

Cambridge Public Boat Ramp, about 6 miles east of Errol on US16 and 1 mile from Maine state line.


White Mountain National Forest:

Crawford Notch Area:

Zealand Recreation Area, from its junction with US 3 in Twin Mountain, follow US 302 east 2.1 miles and turn right on Zealand Road at the sign.

Camping:

  Zealand Campground (WMNF), turn right at the Zealand Recreation Area (see above) and go .0 miles on Zealand Road.    $16/night, chemical toilets, pump water(?), dumpster.

  Sugarloaf I Campground (WMNF),  turn right at the Zealand Recreation Area (see above) and go .5 miles  on Zealand Road.  $18/night, flush toilets, water, dumpster.

  Sugarloaf II Campground (WMNF),  turn right at the Zealand Recreation Area (see above) and go .6 miles  on Zealand Road.    $16/night, chemical toilets, water at Sugarload I Campground, dumpster.

  Old Cherry Mountain Road, from its junction with US 3 in Twin Mountain, follow US 302 east 3.4 miles and turn left on Old Cherry Mountain Road and go .5 miles to Fee Station.  $3 parking fee per day.  No camping fee.  No facilities.  Use Sugarloaf Campground (WMNF) facilities (see above).

  Haystack, I 93 exit 35 mile 110(?) US 3.  Follow US 3 4.7 miles and make a right onto dirt road south side of Gale River.  $3 parking fee per day.  No camping fee.  No facilities.  Use Beaver Brook Wayside toilet one mile north on US 3.

  Gale River, I 93 exit 35 mile 110(?) US 3.  Follow US 3 4.9 miles and make a right onto dirt road north side of Gale River.  $3 parking fee per day.  No camping fee.  No facilities.  Use Beaver Brook Wayside toilet one mile north on US 3.

  Fourth Iron, about 10 miles east of Wiley House on US 302.  $3 parking fee per day.  No camping fee.  No facilities.  Use toilet at Arethusa Falls Trailhead (see below).

Trailheads:

  Twin Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountains Trail, from Zealand Recreation Area follow Zealand Road .9 miles to parking area at bridge.  Trail on other side of bridge.

  Twin Mountain, Hale Brook Mountains Trail, from Zealand Recreation Area follow Zealand Road 2.4 miles to parking area at bridge.  Trail on other side of bridge.

  Macomber Family Information Center/Crawford Depot and AMC's Highland Center are 6 miles from the Zealand Recreation Area and 8.1 miles from the US 3/ US 302 junction in Twin Mountain.  The Wiley House is 2.6 miles from the Macomber Family Information Center and 10.7 miles from the US 3/US 302 junction in Twin Mountain.

  Avalon Trail, across the railroad tracks behind the Crawford Depot.

  Mt Willard Trail, diverges from the Avalon Trail at .1 miles.

  Webster-Jackson Trail, .1 miles south of Macromber Family Information Center  on the left side of US 302.

  Ethan Pond Trail, .8 miles south on US 302 from Wiley House on the right side of US 302.  Turn right and go .2 miles to trailhead additional parking.

  Ripley Falls Trail, diverges from the Ethan Pond Trail at .2 miles.

  Webster Cliffs Trail, .8 miles south on US 302 from Wiley House on the left side of US 302.

  Dry River Trail, 2.3 miles south from Wiley House on the left side of US 302.

  Frankenstein Cliffs Trail, 3.2 miles south from Wiley House on the right side of US 302.

  Arethusa Falls Trail diverges from the Frankenstein Cliffs Trail at .1 miles.


Evans Notch Area:

Evans Notch spans the New Hampshire & Maine borders east of Gorham, NH.

ME 113 is 2.3 miles inside the Maine border and 10 miles east of Gorham, NH.

Camping:

  From the junction with US 2 on ME 113:

   Hastings Campground (WMNF), mile 3.1.  $16/night,  Chemical toilets, pump water, dumpster. 

   Wild River Campground (WMNF), turn right at mile 3.1 and continue 5.2 miles to campground.  $16/night,  Chemical toilets, pump water, dumpster.  Mostly tent sites, a couple of sites for camper, trailer.

   Cold River Campground (WMNF), mile 10.3.  $16/night,  Chemical toilets, pump water, dumpster. 

   The Basin Campground (WMNF), turn right at mile 10.3 and continue .5 miles to campground.  $18/night,  Flush toilets, water, dumpster.


Gorham Area:

Ranger Station in Gorham, from it's junction with US 2 on the east side of town, follow US 16 south 1.5 miles and turn right at sign.

Camping:

  Gorham, Dolly Copp Campground (WMNF), from it's junction with US 2 on the east side of town, follow US 16 south 4.2 miles and turn right and follow signs.  $20/night.  Flush toilets, water, dumpster.  Closes Columbus Day... Barnes Field, just up the road, open year round @ $10/night

  Gorham, Promenade Street gravel pit (see Pine Mountain Trail below)

Trailheads:

  Appalachia, Randolph Mountain Club Trailhead, from it's junction with US 16 north on the west side of Gorham, follow US 2 west 5.1 and turn left at the signed parking lot or from the Barnes Field Campground in the Dolly Copp White Mountain National Forest campground (see above), follow the Pinkham B Road 3.7 miles, turn left and follow US 2 .7 miles to the signed parking lot.

  Gorham, Great Gulf Trail,  from it's junction with US 2 on the east side of town, follow US 16 south 5.7 miles and turn right into the signed parking area and trailhead.

  Gorham, Imp Trail, from the Dolly Copp (see above) follow US 16 south 1.2 miles to trailhead on the left side of road.

  Gorham, Pine Mountain Trail,  from it's junction with US 2 on the east side of town, follow US 16 south .3 miles and turn right onto Promenade Street.  Follow it .7 miles to the end and a gravel pit.  Street turns to dirt road past 2nd cemetery.  Trailhead is on the left of gravel pit.

  Randolph East Trailhead, from it's junction with US 16 north on the west side of Gorham, follow US 2 west 4.3 miles and turn left at Pinkham B Road and go .2 miles to the trailhead on the right or from the Barnes Field Campground in the Dolly Copp White Mountain National Forest campground (see above), follow the Pinkham B Road 3.5 miles to the trailhead on the left.

  Randolph Hill Road,  from it's junction with US 16 north on the west side of Gorham, follow US 2 west 3.3 miles and turn right at the Randolph Hill Road or from the Barnes Field Campground in the Dolly Copp White Mountain National Forest campground (see above), follow the Pinkham B Road 3.7 miles, turn right and follow US 1.0 miles and turn left at Randolph Hill Road.


Kancamagus Highway (NH 112):

Ranger Station at either end of Kancamagus Highway (ME 112).

Camping:

From Loon Mountains Ski Area in Lincoln, (about 2.5 miles east on ME 112 from I 93 exit 32/mile 100)

  Hancock Campground (WMNF) 2.3 miles. $20/night.  Flush toilets, water, dumpster.

  Big Rock Campground (WMNF) 4.1 miles

  Passaconaway Campground (WMNF) 17.4 miles $18/night.  Chemical toilets, water, dumpster.  Closes Oct 9

  Jigger Johnson Campground (WMNF) 19.0 miles

  Blackberry Crossing Campground (WMNF) 25.0 miles

  Covered Bridge Campground (WMNF) 25.0 miles

  US 16 29.1 miles

  Russel Pond Campground (WMNF), I 93 exit 31/mile 97, turn east and follow Tripoli Road 1.8 and turn left at Russel Pond Recreation Area sign.  Follow this road 2.1 miles to campground.  $20/night, showers ($2.00), flush toilets, water(?), dumpster(?)

  Osceola Vista Campground (WMNF), I 93 exit 31/mile 97, turn east and follow Tripoli Road about 7.5 miles.  $16/night, chemical toilets, no water, dumpster(?)

  Tripoli Road, I 93 exit 31 mile 97.  May-October - Sun-Thurs $15  Fri-Sat $20.  No facilities.  Toilets at Livermore Trailhead about mile 8 or use Russel Pond or Osceola Vista Campgrounds (see above).

  Wildwood Recreation Area & Campground (WMNF), 9 miles west of Lincoln on ME 112 ( I 93 exit 32/mile 100) $16/night, chemical toilet, water, dumpster

Trailheads:

  Kancamagus Highway (NH 112):

  Champney Falls Trail, from the Jigger Johnson Campground (see above) follow ME 112 1.8 miles east to the signed trailhead parking lot on the right side of the road.  Trail is the service road.

  East Pond Trail, from the Big Rock Campground (see above) follow ME 112 1.6 miles west to the signed trailhead parking lot on the right side of the road.

  Greely Ponds Trail, from the Big Rock Campground (see above) follow ME 112 2.5 miles west to the signed trailhead parking lot on the right side of the road.

  Lincoln Woods Trail, from the Hancock Campground (see above) follow ME 112 .3 miles west to the signed trailhead parking lot on the left side of the road.  Trail leads across the foot bridge.

  Pemi East Branch Trail, from the Hancock Campground (see above) follow ME 112 .3 miles west to the signed trailhead parking lot on the left side of the road.  Trail is the service road.

  Sabbaday Falls Trail, from the Passaconaway Campground (see above) follow ME 112 1.1 miles west to the signed trailhead parking lot on the left side of the road.  Trail is the service road.

  UNH Trail (Hedgehog Mountain), Downes Brook Trail, Mount Potash Trail, directly across from the Passaconaway Campground (see above).


Pinkham Notch Area:

  Pinkham Notch is 5.8 miles south of Dolly Copp Campground (WMNF) on US 16 and about 18 miles north of North Conway on US 16.

Trailheads:  

  Tuckerman Ravine Trail, Trailhead behind the Trading Post.

  Boot Spur Link Trail, 2.4 miles up Tuckerman Ravine Trail.

  Boot Spur Trail, .4 miles up Tuckerman Ravine Trail and at the end of Boot Spur Link Trail (see above).

  Huntington Ravine Trail, 1.7 miles up Tuckerman Ravine Trail.

  Raymond Path  .5 miles up Huntington Ravine Trail (see above) or 1.7 mile up the Old Jackson Road.

  Old Jackson Road, behind the Trading Post.


Waterville Valley:

Waterville Valley, I 93 Exit 28 mile 87 US 49

  Campton Campgrounds US 49 mile 2.  $18/night, showers ($2.00), flush toilets, water, dumpster

  Waterville Campgrounds US 49 mile 9.8 turn left and then left again at .1 miles.  $16/night, chemical toilets, no water, dumpster
