Pacific Coast (US-101):

I'm planning a trip up the Pacific Coast this summer, going from Morro Bay, CA to Bellingham, WA. My objective is to remain as close to the coast as possible at the lowest cost possible. I don't want to camp more than 20 miles from the ocean unless there's something really interesting.

I started this project with the intent of taking my 25ft motorhome so I bypassed all sites that did not accomodate it. I've decided to take the van instead and now have to go back and add the missing sites.

The following is the result of some of my research so far. Note: I haven't been to any of these sites yet.

The listings are from south to north (I hope).

National Forest reservations: 1-877-444-6777 or Reserveusa.com.

Golden Age (62+ years old) & Golden Access (Handicapped) should get 1/2 price for campsites at all National Park Service, National Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bureau Of Reclamation & US Fish & Wildlife Serivce campgrounds.
