It's been some time since I made an entry. Today's Christmas. I'm sitting here in the Kofa Wildlife Refuge under overcast skies and with a strong wind blowing. Too unpleasant to go out running or hiking so I'm just hanging out in the van today.
Van? Yup, last month while visiting friends in Colorado I bought a 2003 Dodge Ram Van 2500. We did a lot of customizing in 2 days and I hit the road again. I've been hanging around Quartzite and Lake Havasu City in western Arizona since then. I've had house batteries and a solar panel installed. Bought and had to customize a roof rack for the sea kayak too. Check out Van Conversion for a detailed description of these processes.
I'm waiting for parts for some more work on the van and also waiting to install a satellite radio system. Christmas is a bad time for this type of stuff. UPS is way behind on deliveries and the radio receivers are sold out in Quartzsite. I may head back up to Lake Havasu City or down to Yuma to see if I have better luck there. Once all that's complete I'll get back to hiking and exploring Arizona.
