01-21-00: Headed east from Del Rio for doctor stuff in Austin. Stopped off at South Llano River State Park as an intermediate stop. Nice bunch of trails. Will stop back on the way from Austin to Big Bend.
01-22-00: Back at McKinney Falls State Park outside of Austin. Freakin' claxon or siren or something went off for more than 30 minutes around 3am. I got up and left and it shut off as I was leaving the park. I kept going anyway.
01-23-00: Finished up doctor stuff in Austin and began trek to Big Bend. Stopped off at Ink Lake State Park in Burnet. Lots of red granite hills and knolls. Ink Lake too developed though and has pretty flat shoreline. Not worth doing. Compressor running somewhere all day but stopped around 5:30pm.
01-24-00: Did some of the Ink Lake State Park Trails around the lake. Lots of red granite slabs and hills, prickly pear cactus, cedar and juniper trees. Just enough hills to notice the hamstrings. A bunch of kids in their late teens wearing prison clothes doing trail maintenance. A group of young women similar attire also working by the park road. Skipped another couple miles of trails. Stopped by Lake Buchanan. It didn't seem terribly interesting so I kept on going.
