It would seem I've been a bit lax in keeping my trip reports up to date. I'm still out here wandering around but really haven't been doing anything exciting. To bring things up to date:
The winter of 2003/2004 was spent in Arizona as usual. I had the new van and a new solar electrical system to play with and get used to. My laptop crashed and I lost some trip reports and developed something of an attitude about that. It's taken me all this time to make up my mind to continue with the web site. After purchasing a new laptop I got heavily into loading my cassette tapes into the computer and cutting MP3 CD's holding 10 times the amount of music as a regular CD.
Spring found me back in southern Utah as usual. Here I started walking the back roads for an hour or two a day. I needed the exercise but didn't want to spend the time on the trails as I was still wrapped up in MP3.
In late May I headed back east to pick up my CDs and some other personal stuff. I got those loaded into the computer and new MP3 CDs cut and then traded the originals in for new (used) ones and started the process all over again.
I hit a hot, muggy day in July and decided not to spend the summer in Maine as planned and hightailed it back to Colorado for the remainder of the summer. I'll go back east in the fall next time.
So here I am back in southern Utah again for this fall. I just got here north of Arches National Park and am still working on MP3 stuff. While I'm still in decent shape for an old guy, I've got to put the MP3 stuff in perspective and get on with the hiking.
I also picked up my 14 or 15 foot canoe while back east. I expect to paddle out on Lake Powell for a few days and a couple of lakes in Washington state. We'll see if I'm blowing hot air or ready to get on with it.
